Dining in Harrogate

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch at The Pine Marten in Beckwithknowle near Harrrogate today.  The gastro pub is set in beautiful surroundings and the gardens are just stunning.

Took time to relax with a few cold rosés in the gardens after the best roast dinner I’ve ever eaten.  Was lovely soaking up the sun and watching the koi swimming about in the large central pond.

This evening’s culinary delights will be brought to us by Fisk, a champagne and seafood restaurant on Cold Bath Road in Harrogate and that will mark the close of our staycation in the UK this Summer.  Only a small number of covers so we were lucky to get in tonight, however we had a sneak peek a couple of nights ago having been permitted to just have a drink on the way home in the middle of a downpour.

It absolutely did not disappoint.  The food was exceptional from start to finish and the service matched it. Over the last week we’ve been on a bit of a culinary journey around this wonderful Yorkshire town.  The places to eat and drink are quite mind boggling but some of my favourites have been:-

The Fat Badger– English pub attached to the White Heart Hotel.  Fabulous food and friendly staff.  Good menu and reasonable prices. Food was lovely – pub food and then some.

Tilly Peppers, a cosy little café on Cold Bath Road with an eclectic mix of furniture and shabby chic feel.  Brilliant breakfast, had a “messy bagels” with cream cheese, ham and scrambled egg.  Bootifa!

Revolution de Cuba, a vibrant atmosphere and alive with energy on a Saturday night.  Two floors of locals, visitors and hen parties alike did not impinge on the service delivered by the great staff nor the quality of the food or the Sangria.  Really enjoyed our visit.

The Starling, independent beer and coffee house.  A refreshing change from the usual chains popping up everywhere.

Relaxed atmosphere and great coffee.  Didn’t eat here but saw some amazing looking (huge!) pizzas coming out of the kitchen.  I have to give special mention to the prettiest coffee I’ve ever had…
